FAQ's

Therapy Villa is an inclusive psychological and psychotherapy clinic offering in-person therapy sessions to individuals and couples in the Etobicoke and Greater Toronto area and virtual therapy sessions to residents of Ontario.

We connect you with caring and qualified therapists to help you overcome challenges and achieve your mental well-being goals.

Absolutely. All communication between you and your therapist is confidential, with limited exceptions as required by law (e.g., danger to self or others).

No, you don’t need a referral to start therapy at Therapy Villa. You can book a consultation directly through our website or by phone.

Individual and Couples therapy sessions are 50 minutes long and range from C$190 to C$240, depending on the therapist’s experience.

Virtual sessions follow the same pricing structure. We accept e-transfers, and debit/credit cards.

While we don’t directly bill insurance companies, many extended health benefit plans cover psychotherapy services provided by registered Psychologists or Psychological Associates.

Therapy can address a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, self-esteem issues, life transitions, and more.

If you’re struggling with emotional challenges or feel like you could benefit from extra support, therapy can be a valuable tool.

We offer a free 20-minute consultation to discuss your needs and help you decide if therapy, including virtual therapy, is a good fit for you.

During your free consultation, we’ll discuss your concerns, preferences, and whether in-person or virtual therapy would be best for you.

We’ll then match you with a therapist who has the expertise and approach that best suits your needs.

The first session, whether in-person or virtual, is a chance to get acquainted with your therapist, discuss your goals for therapy, and ask any questions you may have.

The length of therapy depends on your individual needs and goals. Some clients experience significant improvement in a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy.

Virtual therapy sessions are conducted online using a secure video platform. This allows you to receive therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

Yes, research shows that virtual therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy for a variety of concerns.

You’ll need a computer, tablet or smartphone with a reliable internet connection, a webcam, and a microphone. Please find a quiet and private space where you won’t be interrupted during the session.

Therapy is an investment in your mental health and well-being. It can be a cost-effective way to address challenges that may be impacting your life and work.

Virtual therapy may be a more accessible option for some clients, reducing transportation costs and scheduling conflicts.

Therapy is a common and healthy way to prioritize your mental health. Seeking help demonstrates strength and self-awareness.

Many people participate in virtual therapy, so there’s no need to feel self-conscious.

The therapeutic relationship is important. We encourage open communication with your therapist.

If you feel like it’s not a good fit, we can always help you explore other options that best suit your needs.

Payment is due at the beginning of each session. We accept cash, e-transfers and all major debit/credit cards via Stripe.

The full session fee is charged if there is less than 24 hour notice for a cancelled or rescheduled appointment.

Psychologists and Psychological Associates are both qualified mental health professionals licensed by the College of Psychologists of Ontario. The key difference lies in their education: Psychologists hold a doctoral degree in psychology with an internship year, while Psychological Associates have a master’s degree followed by four years of supervised experience. Both undergo further supervised training and examinations, and are both covered by insurers as such.

Psychotherapists in Ontario may have various educational backgrounds, such as a master’s degree in psychology, counseling or social work. They are trained to provide psychotherapy, which involves helping clients address emotional, behavioral, and interpersonal issues. Psychotherapists are regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
