EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing

Traumatic events can often leave a lasting impact on your daily lives even years later.

Trauma can manifest in various forms such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and other emotional difficulties.

It can be difficult to move forward from these experiences and find peace and closure.

What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy is a powerful tool that can help individuals process and integrate traumatic memories, and reduce the distress they may cause. Developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro in the late 1980s, EMDR therapy is based on the idea that traumatic memories are stored in the brain differently than other memories and that these memories can continue to cause distress even after the traumatic event has ended.

How Does EMDR Help?

During EMDR therapy, you will be guided through a process that involves recalling the traumatic event while simultaneously engaging in eye movements, taps, or tones. This process is designed to help the brain process and integrate the traumatic memory, reducing the distress associated with it. You will be encouraged to focus on specific aspects of the traumatic event, such as the images, thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations that are associated with it. As you focus on these aspects, your therapist will guide your eye movements, taps, or tones, which are believed to help the brain process and integrate the traumatic memory.

EMDR therapy has been extensively researched and has been found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and depression. It has helped countless individuals like you, to overcome the challenges they faced and move forward in their lives.
